The Starbucks Experience by Joseph Michelli
Overview
The Starbucks Experience: 5 Principles for Turning the Ordinary into Extraordinary by Joseph Michelli is a review of five key principles that have allowed Starbucks to really differentiate itself in the marketplace. These principles are: make it your own, everything matters, surprise and delight, embrace resistance, and leave your mark. The authors bases this off of his observation of Starbucks as their management let him have an inside view of the company.
The Good
The Starbucks Experience is worth a read. While I'd probably get it out of a library if possible as I wouldn't consider it a toolkit, it provides some great applied examples of how the aforementioned principles were applied. Overall, it's a quick and entertaining read.
